Business
American Express Company (AXP) operates as a global payments and premium lifestyle company that issues proprietary consumer charge and credit cards, small business and corporate cards, and travel-related services worldwide. The company offers core products including Membership Rewards points programs; premium cards such as Platinum and Gold with travel perks, lounge access, concierge services, and dining credits; business payment solutions encompassing expense management tools, cross-border payments, and corporate travel planning; merchant services via its integrated network accepted at over 100 million locations in more than 200 countries and territories; and digital platforms for seamless account management, fraud protection, and personalized experiences. Founded in 1850 and headquartered at 200 Vesey Street in New York City, American Express conducts operations through four primary segments—U.S. Consumer Services, Commercial Services, International Card Services, and Global Merchant and Network Services—targeting affluent consumers, frequent travelers, small and medium-sized enterprises, and large corporations across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and other regions. In recent developments, the company completed its acquisition of Center, a Bellevue-based expense management software provider for small to medium-sized businesses, in April 2025 to enhance integration with its corporate and small business cards; announced an expanded partnership with Emburse to automate expense management for enterprise customers; and reported robust Q3 2025 results with 11% revenue growth to approximately $15.8 billion, driven by premium card strategies, transaction expansion, and raised full-year guidance amid strong credit performance.
