Description

Minority/Non Controlling Interest is a type of equity that represents the ownership stake of less than 50% in a subsidiary company by an investor or a parent company. Minority/Non Controlling Interest does not have control over the decisions or operations of the subsidiary company. Minority/Non Controlling Interest is reported on the consolidated balance sheet of the parent company and its subsidiaries as a component of shareholders’ equity. Minority/Non Controlling Interest also receives a proportionate share of the net income or loss of the subsidiary company, which is reported on the consolidated income statement of the parent company.
