Other equity is a type of security that represents equity that is not in the form of securities or direct investment. Other equity may include capital contributions to non-monetary development organizations, or investments in quasi-corporations, such as branches, partnerships, and notional units for ownership of real estate. Other equity is reported on the balance sheet as a component of shareholders’ equity.
