Description
The amount of money that a company has borrowed from external sources, such as banks or other financial institutions, that has to be repaid within the next 12 months or the current fiscal year, whichever is longer. Short-term borrowings are a subset of short-term debt and are usually used to finance working capital needs or temporary cash shortfalls. Short-term borrowings are also recorded as a current liability on the balance sheet and are subject to interest charges.
