The estimated amount of income tax or other taxes that a company has to pay to the government based on its taxable income for the current period, but has not yet paid or remitted. Accrued taxes are recorded as a current liability on the balance sheet and are measured using the tax rates and laws that are in effect at the end of the reporting period.
