Description

The amount of expense recognized by a company for writing down the carrying value of an asset when its fair value is less than its book value. Asset impairment charge is a non-cash expense that reduces net income but does not affect cash flow. Asset impairment charge is added back to net income to calculate cash flow from operations on the cash flow statement.
