- Bitcoin gained 0.5% as risk sentiment improved after President Trump delayed a major escalation against Iran, raising hopes for renewed diplomacy.
- Markets are also watching progress on the U.S. Clarity Act, while Strategy reported no new Bitcoin purchases last week.
- The relief rally comes amid cautious trading, with traders eyeing further geopolitical developments.
Risk-On Sentiment Returns
Bitcoin rose 0.5% to $67,800 on Thursday, as geopolitical tensions eased following a report that President Trump delayed a planned strike on Iranian nuclear facilities. The decision, according to people familiar with the matter, has opened the door for potential diplomatic talks, boosting risk assets across the board.
“The market is breathing a sigh of relief,” said a senior trader at a New York-based crypto hedge fund. “We’re seeing a classic risk-on move, with Bitcoin catching a bid alongside equities.” The S&P 500 also edged higher, while gold slipped 0.3%.
Legislative Tailwinds
Investors are also focusing on the U.S. Clarity Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at providing clear regulatory guidelines for digital assets. The bill, which gained momentum in recent weeks, could pass before the end of the quarter, according to a Senate aide. Industry advocates argue that regulatory clarity would unlock institutional capital, further supporting Bitcoin’s price.
“The Clarity Act is a game-changer if it passes,” said a blockchain policy analyst. “It would remove a lot of uncertainty that has been holding back big money.”
Strategy Holds Steady
Meanwhile, Strategy, the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, disclosed in a filing that it did not purchase any additional BTC last week, maintaining its stash of 226,331 coins. The company’s pause comes after several weeks of aggressive buying. Analysts say the halt may signal a tactical shift, but it has not dampened sentiment.
“Strategy’s buying has been a major driver of demand. A pause is natural after such a strong run,” said a crypto market strategist.
Fragile Ceasefire
Despite the relief rally, analysts caution that the situation remains fluid. “The Iran delay is a positive step, but it’s not a lasting resolution,” noted a geopolitical risk consultant. “Any escalation could reverse these gains quickly.” Bitcoin’s price remains within its recent range, with $65,000 acting as support and $70,000 as resistance.
A spokesperson for the White House declined to comment on the Iran decision, while the Treasury Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Correction: An earlier version of this article misstated the name of the legislation. It is the Clarity Act, not the Crypto Clarity Act.
