Business
African Media Entertainment Limited (AME.JO) operates as a media and entertainment company focused on radio broadcasting and complementary digital and marketing services in South Africa. The company owns and operates key radio stations including Algoa FM, broadcasting music, news, and entertainment from the Garden Route to the Wild Coast; OFM, serving the Free State, North West Province, Northern Cape, and southern Gauteng; and holds a strategic interest in HOT 1027 (also referred to as Classic 1027), South Africa's commercial classical music station in Gauteng. Its media services portfolio encompasses United Stations, a specialist radio and digital sales house; MediaHeads 360, which develops integrated strategic marketing campaigns across platforms; Moneyweb, providing premier online business, financial, and investment news via moneyweb.co.za; Digital Platforms, offering website design, social media marketing, search engine optimization, hosting, e-commerce, and mobile app development; and Mahareng Publishing (part of Central Media Group), delivering local print products and custom design solutions. Founded in 1997 and headquartered at AME Office Park, No. 5 8th Street, Houghton Estate, Johannesburg, the company lists on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange under the Media & Entertainment sector and generates all revenue within South Africa across radio broadcasting (approximately 71.5% of net sales) and advertising services (28.5%). It targets advertisers, businesses seeking media integration, and audiences in regional markets through its complementary radio and digital assets. In a significant recent development, United Stations, a subsidiary, was appointed as the exclusive sales partner for Kaya 959 effective February 1, 2025, following a competitive request for proposal process, expanding its radio sales representation capabilities. The company held its Annual General Meeting on August 28, 2025, where all resolutions, including director re-elections, auditor approvals, and authorities for share repurchases and financial assistance, passed with requisite majorities. AME continues to report steady operations, with half-year earnings released for the period ended September 30, 2024, and full-year results for the year ended March 31, 2024.
