Sundaram-Clayton Limited manufactures and markets machined and sub-assembled aluminum die castings for the automotive sector in India. The company produces a range of precision components including crankcases, cylinder heads, cylinder barrels, flywheels, gear housings, clutch housings, wheel hubs and brake equipment valve bodies for heavy commercial vehicles, passenger cars and two-wheelers; it serves global customers such as Cummins, Volvo, Daimler, Wabco, ZF, Hyundai, Ford, BMW, Honda, Tata Motors and TVS Motors with 45% of output exported to markets including the United States, Brazil, Sweden, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Japan. Founded in 1962 as part of the TVS Group and headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Sundaram-Clayton Limited operates four manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu with over 50,000 tons annual casting capacity across high-pressure, gravity and low-pressure die-casting processes. In August 2023, the company received the demerger of TVS Holdings Limited's non-ferrous gravity and pressure die-casting business, significantly expanding its operations; it incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary, SCL Properties Private Limited, in July 2024 to enter data centre services, interconnection solutions and IT services; commenced production at its new die-casting facility in Thervoy Kandigai in 2024-25; sold its as-cast, low-pressure and low-tonnage aluminum die-casting businesses at Hosur via slump sale; and acquired an 11.63% stake in Navia Two Power on November 27, 2025.
