Business
Vanguard FTSE Developed All Cap ex U.S. Index ETF (VDU.TO) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to track, to the extent reasonably possible and before fees and expenses, the performance of the FTSE Developed All Cap ex US Index (or any successor thereto); it employs a representative sampling technique to invest directly or indirectly in large-, mid-, and small-capitalization stocks of companies located in developed markets outside the United States, spanning growth and value styles across diversified sectors including financials, industrials, consumer discretionary, health care, and technology. The ETF provides investors with broad exposure to equities in developed markets such as Europe, Pacific regions including Japan and Australia, and other non-U.S. areas; it distributes income quarterly and maintains a low management expense ratio of 0.22%. Launched on August 2, 2013 (with formation on July 19, 2013), VDU.TO is managed by Vanguard Investments Canada Inc., with co-management by Vanguard Global Advisers, LLC, and is domiciled in Canada. The fund transitioned to the FTSE Developed All Cap ex US Index following prior benchmarks (FTSE Developed ex North America Index through December 20, 2015, and FTSE Developed All Cap ex US Transition Index through May 31, 2016), aligning with changes in the related U.S.-listed Vanguard FTSE Developed Markets ETF (VEA); this index shift enhanced coverage of small-cap stocks in developed ex-U.S. markets. Vanguard Investments Canada continues regular cash distributions for VDU.TO, with the most recent ex-dividend date on June 20, 2025, at CAD 0.31186 per unit, alongside annual capital gains estimates announced in November 2025; no major acquisitions, new product launches specific to VDU.TO, or strategic reorganizations have been reported in the last 1-2 years. The ETF targets institutional and retail investors seeking diversified international equity exposure excluding the U.S., with assets under management at approximately CAD 602.76 million as of late 2025.
