Description

Total Common Equity is a way to calculate how much money a company has in its common stock and its retained earnings. It shows how much money belongs to the owners of the common stock, who are the residual claimants of the company’s assets and earnings. It does not include any preferred stock or any other interest with preferred equity status. The formula for Total Common Equity is:
Total Common Equity = Common Stock + Retained Earnings
