Business
Boryung Corporation (003850.KS) engages in the manufacture and sale of pharmaceutical products in South Korea and internationally. The company offers prescription drugs for hypertension including Kanarb (fimasartan), Kanarb Plus (ARB+HCTZ), Dukarb (ARB+CCB), and Tuvero (ARB+statin); dyslipidemia treatments; diabetes medications; central nervous system drugs; oncology drugs such as Gemzar, Genexol, and Xeloda; antibiotics including Maxipime; antiulcerants like Besto (H2RA) and Gelfos M (antacids); and active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). It operates across therapeutic categories encompassing cardiovascular, anti-infective, respiratory, and oncology segments, with exports to nearly 50 countries across six continents including Japan, China, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, South America, and Africa. Founded in 1957 and headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, at Boryung Building, 136 Changgyeonggung-ro, Jongno-gu, the company previously operated as Boryung Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. until changing its name to Boryung Corporation in March 2022. Boryung Corporation maintains manufacturing facilities in Ansan and Yesan, employs approximately 1,533 people, and focuses on research and development for chronic disease treatments, incrementally modified drugs, and oncology pipelines. In recent developments, Boryung Corporation invested $10 million in shares of U.S.-based Intuitive Machines Inc. in December 2024 as part of its Humans in Space initiative, following a memorandum of understanding signed in October 2024 and prior investments in Axiom Space. The company received KRW 175 billion in funding from Boryung Partners Co. Ltd. in November 2024 and signed a global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) agreement with Cheplapharm in 2025 to produce and supply Zyprexa tablets to 46 countries. Additionally, it expanded penicillin production facilities and advanced Korean generic anticancer drugs in 2025, while private equity firms Eugene PE and KDB PE agreed to acquire its subsidiary Boryung Biopharma for $231 million in June 2024.
