Business
LG Innotek Co., Ltd. is a South Korea-based multinational company engaged in the manufacture and sale of electronic materials and components. The company operates six primary business segments: mobile components including camera modules, touch windows, and high-tech parts for smartphones, laptops, and home appliances; automotive electric components such as ABS motors, EPS motors, torque angle sensors, DCT motors, AFLS actuators, network modules, battery management systems (BMS), LED light source modules for automotive lamps, and automotive camera modules; LED products comprising LED packages, LED mobile, LED Blu, LED lighting, and LED lighting systems; printed circuit board (PCB) and substrate components including leadframes; display components used in LCD/LED TVs and monitors; and wireless communication components such as tuners, wireless modems, wireless LAN, network cameras, and wireless power modules used in TVs, computers, and other IT devices. Founded in 1970 and headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, LG Innotek has sales offices in Taiwan, China, Japan, the USA, and Germany. Recent major developments include LG Innotek’s strategic expansion into mobility sensing, robotics, and semiconductor components with plans to increase revenue from future growth businesses to over 25 percent by 2030. Noteworthy among these is a strategic partnership with U.S.-based LiDAR specialist Aeva, under which LG Innotek will supply ultraslim long-range frequency-modulated continuous-wave LiDAR modules for next-generation vehicles starting in 2028. Additionally, the company has invested in Smart Radar System, gaining access to advanced radar technologies such as 4D imaging radar and ultra short-range radar. In 2024, LG Innotek converted nearly 60% of its global electricity consumption to renewable sources, meeting RE100 renewable energy targets through its plants in Vietnam and South Korea. The company secured an eight-year $200 million sustainability-linked loan from the International Finance Corporation to support its Vietnam expansion, including a new 150,000 square meter V3 plant that doubles camera module production capacity. LG Innotek also unveiled its next-generation digital key solution that incorporates Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) with ultra-wideband (UWB), enhanced by AI-driven 3D positioning algorithms for improved security and accuracy. The digital key solution includes proprietary radar technology offering child presence detection (CPD) that senses subtle breathing patterns to prevent child lock-in risks. Further, the company collaborates with Intel to implement AI-powered smart factory systems for automated inspection, enhancing cost competitiveness across domestic and overseas production lines. Recent innovations in automotive communication include the world's first automotive 5G communication module with satellite connectivity, enabling faster and more reliable vehicle communication systems. LG Innotek remains a leading global player in optics solutions, automotive components, substrates, and wireless communications, continuously advancing technologies to support next-generation mobility, autonomous driving, and connectivity markets. Its broad product portfolio and strategic investments position it at the forefront of electronic materials and components industries worldwide. This comprehensive profile highlights LG Innotek’s foundational history, geographic reach, diversified product offerings, and recent major strategic and operational developments through 2025.
