Business
Air Asia Co., Ltd. operates as an aircraft maintenance company based in Tainan City, Taiwan, with operations in Taiwan, the broader Asian region, and internationally. The company provides a comprehensive range of services including civilian and military aircraft maintenance; engine and component maintenance; helicopter maintenance; and aeronautical parts asset management. Its commercial and military aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services encompass A, B, C, and D checks; airworthiness directives and service bulletins compliance; corrosion prevention and control programs (CPCP/SSID); structural damage repairs; and airframe modifications and retrofits. Additionally, Air Asia offers aircraft propeller renovation, helicopter rotor blade overhaul, manufacturing of aero-engines, aerospace components, aircraft structures and engines, structural sub-assemblies, and parts manufacturing tools and trusses. The company also provides fleet management and factory entrusted operations, training for civil aviation personnel, fiber optic gyroscope services, and leases and distribution of aircraft parts and related equipment. Founded in 1946 and formerly known as Civil Air Transport (name changed to Air Asia Co., Ltd. in 1955), the company has maintained a focus on aerospace and defense sectors with approximately 1,067 employees. Recent strategic developments specific to Air Asia Co., Ltd. focus on expanding its comprehensive MRO capabilities while operating in multiple countries. While distinct from the Malaysian-based AirAsia airline group, the company remains a vital player in aerospace maintenance services internationally. The broader AirAsia Group, separate from Air Asia Co., Ltd., has announced major fleet expansion plans involving acquisition of up to 70 Airbus A321XLR jets and is undergoing structural and strategic realignments, but these do not directly pertain to Air Asia Co., Ltd.'s operations. Air Asia Co., Ltd. consistently updates its service offerings to include advanced maintenance technologies and adheres to strict aviation safety standards, positioning itself as a key service provider in the aerospace MRO market within the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
