Business
Atect Corporation engages in the manufacture and sale of hygiene inspection equipment, semiconductor protection materials, and powder injection molding (PIM) products, primarily serving life sciences, automotive, electronics, food safety, and medical industries. Its main product categories include disposable petri dishes and microbial testing media under its hygiene inspection equipment segment; spacer tapes used as protection materials for tape automated bonding (TAB) and chip on film (COF) in semiconductor device manufacturing; and auxiliary agents for injection molding, such as binders and ceramic heat sinks, developed through its PIM segment. The company leverages over 50 years of injection molding and mold-making technology to develop fine polymer particles and three-dimensional complex-shaped products. Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, and founded in 1959, Atect holds a global market share exceeding 70% in spacer tapes for flat panel displays and is recognized as the leading domestic producer of petri dishes by volume. Recent strategic developments include a November 2025 memorandum of understanding forming a partnership with Vietnamese technology firm VTI to establish an offshore development center focused on advancing smarter, safer mobility solutions in Japan's automotive industry. This collaboration aims to address resource shortages and enhance development capabilities, positioning Atect to expand its automotive software expertise globally. In July 2025, Atect also announced a strategic alliance with global IT services company FPT to co-develop next-generation automotive software solutions, fostering innovation and sustainability in transportation technologies. These moves reflect Atect's expansion into automotive software and engineering services alongside its traditional manufacturing base. Furthermore, in the powder injection molding domain, Atect continues to innovate with proprietary metal-ceramic binder systems enabling precision sintered products, driving growth in industrial equipment components. The company operates primarily in Japan with growing international collaborations and maintains a diversified business model across semiconductor materials, hygiene testing, and precision molding technologies. Atect's products serve food and pharmaceutical safety testing, semiconductor manufacturing, and automotive sectors, with a strong focus on research and development and continuous improvement (kaizen). Its strategic initiatives emphasize innovation, sustainable growth, and responsiveness to evolving customer needs in multiple industrial segments.
