The Character Group plc (CCT.L) is a United Kingdom-based independent toy company that designs, develops, manufactures and internationally distributes toys, games, giftware and playthings featuring popular film, television, comic and digital characters under licence from brand owners; core product ranges span pre-school (including market-leading offerings), boys, girls, activity and crafts categories with prominent own and licensed brands such as Heroes of Goo Jit Zu, Peppa Pig, Jiggly Pets, Shimmer 'n Sparkle, Instaglam, Stretch Armstrong, Mash'ems, ChillFactor, Teletubbies, Fireman Sam, Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (as exclusive UK and Ireland distributor for Playmates Toys Inc.), Pokemon and Sticki Rolls; the company also partners with overseas toy producers for joint development and distribution. Founded in 1991 and headquartered at 86-88 Coombe Road, New Malden, Surrey KT3 4QS, United Kingdom, it operates primarily from offices in the UK (London, Oldham), China (Hong Kong, Shenzhen) and Scandinavia, employing around 212 people and serving key markets in the UK, Scandinavia, EU, USA and over 30 countries worldwide with a focus on expanding international penetration. Recent developments include the promotion of Hamun Shah to Group Finance Director in January 2025 succeeding Kiran Shah (who remains Joint Managing Director), an ongoing share buyback programme expanded to GBP 3 million as of late 2024 with GBP 530,899 Ordinary Shares repurchased by February 2025 at a cost of GBP 1.38 million (set to potentially extend beyond May 2025), positive fiscal year 2024 results announced in December 2024 showing turnover up to GBP 123.4 million and pre-tax profits to GBP 5.7 million despite supply chain disruptions and weak consumer confidence, awards for products like Sticki Rolls (Creative Toy of the Year 2025) and Heroes of Goo Jit Zu (Made for Mums Editors' Choice), together with a trading update anticipating similar sales and profits for fiscal year 2025 amid persistent macroeconomic challenges.
