Business
Dala Energi AB (publ) (DE.ST) operates as a regional energy and infrastructure provider in Sweden's Dalarna region, focusing on electricity distribution networks, fiber optic networks for data communication, district heating production and distribution, and related infrastructure services; it supplies electricity grid operations to residential and commercial customers, delivers district heating to industrial properties, multi-family buildings, administrative premises, schools, and single-family homes primarily in Leksand and Insjön, and provides high-speed fiber connectivity alongside supplementary offerings such as local energy production from facilities like Gimåns kraftverk, temporary electrical connections, tree cutting for network maintenance, solar panel installations, and cabling solutions. Founded in 1897 and headquartered in Leksand, Sweden, the company serves over 34,000 customers across municipalities including Leksand, Rättvik, Gagnef, and Säter with approximately 80 employees, emphasizing sustainable development, reduced environmental impact, and regional growth through its core segments of electricity, heat, and city networks. In late 2024, Dala Energi completed a major strategic partnership with Nordion Energi, transferring its electricity network, fiber network, and infrastructure services to a newly formed joint venture company valued at SEK 3.5 billion, where Nordion Energi holds 51% ownership and Dala Energi retains 49%, with local municipalities Rättvik, Leksand, and Gagnef offered an option to acquire 24.5% of the shares; ongoing initiatives include significant grid reinforcements with new network stations, cable burial, and fiber expansions in Leksand municipality during 2025-2026, upgrades to Gimåns hydroelectric power plant, implementation of capacity tariffs for smarter electricity usage since August 2024, and continued investments in network resilience for green transition and digitalization.
