Business
Deutsche Telekom AG is a leading integrated telecommunications company headquartered in Bonn, Germany, founded in 1996. It operates primarily in the telecommunications and information technology sectors, providing a comprehensive range of products and services including fixed-network and broadband services, mobile communications, Internet access, IPTV products for consumers, and information and communication technology (ICT) solutions for business and corporate customers. The company serves more than 261 million mobile customers, 25 million fixed-network lines, and 22 million broadband customers globally, with operations spanning Germany, the United States, Europe, and other markets. Core products include standard fixed-line voice and data communication services; mobile network services; terminal equipment and hardware; cloud services; digitalization strategies; cybersecurity solutions; Internet of Things (IoT) applications; and AI, quantum computing, and data space solutions targeting a broad range of industries including public sector, energy, healthcare, and automotive. Recent major changes at Deutsche Telekom include record-level capital investments of approximately €16 billion in 2024, focusing on the expansion and upgrading of global infrastructure with over €5.8 billion invested in Germany alone, accelerating fiber-optic network rollouts and 5G coverage to meet increasing demand for high-speed connectivity. In 2024, the company enhanced its consumer mobile offerings by upgrading the MagentaMobil S to XL rate plans with additional features and introducing the MagentaMobil Basic entry-level plan, alongside expanding prepaid options and launching data rollover services. The company also strengthened its strategic partnerships with technology leaders such as OpenAI, Nvidia, Ericsson, and Nokia to advance AI-driven network technologies including AI-RAN and 5G Advanced innovations at its U.S. subsidiary T-Mobile. Deutsche Telekom remains focused on digital transformation, aiming to become a leading digital telco and software company alongside its traditional core of network services. Deutsche Telekom operates through diversified business segments including Germany, United States (T-Mobile US), Europe, Systems Solutions (IT services and consulting primarily via its subsidiary T-Systems), and Group Development. It targets a wide range of customers from consumers and small and medium-sized enterprises to multinational corporations. The company continues its expansion in fiber optic access, targeting over 2.5 million additional homes passed by fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) in Germany in 2025, and plans to achieve 5G network coverage of 90 percent in Germany and nearly 99 percent population coverage by the end of 2025. With a global workforce of around 200,000 employees, Deutsche Telekom reported revenue of approximately €115.6 billion in 2024 and plans further growth supported by ongoing investments in network infrastructure, digitalization, and innovative technologies across key markets.
