Glencore plc is a Switzerland-based multinational commodity trading and mining company that produces, sources, markets, recycles and distributes over 60 metals, minerals and energy commodities including copper, cobalt, nickel, zinc, lead, ferroalloys, thermal coal, crude oil, refined products, natural gas and agricultural products; it operates through industrial activities focused on production and processing, marketing activities providing physical commodity trading, logistics, financing and value-added services, and recycling operations encompassing end-of-life electronics and secondary feeds of copper, nickel, cobalt, gold, silver, platinum and palladium. The company serves industrial consumers in the automotive, steel, power generation, battery manufacturing, oil and food processing sectors with operations spanning over 35 countries across the Americas, Australia, Africa, Asia and Europe. Founded in 1974 and headquartered in Baar, Switzerland, with its registered office in Saint Helier, Jersey, Glencore employs around 150,000 people and contractors globally. Recent developments include a September 2025 non-binding term sheet with Orion Minerals for up to $250 million in funding structured in two tranches to develop the Prieska copper-zinc mine in South Africa, comprising $40 million for the near-surface Uppers deposit and up to $210 million for the Deeps expansion plus early works; the completion of the Viterra/Bunge merger in July 2025; submission of RIGI applications in August 2025 for its Argentine copper projects; a December 2025 Capital Markets Day announcing copper production growth targeting 1.6 million tonnes by 2035 through investments including a $9.5 billion greenfield mine in Argentina and restarting a mothballed operation, alongside tightened 2025 production guidance following strong third-quarter performance and an ongoing 2025/2026 share buy-back programme.
