Business
Genex Power Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan's Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (J-POWER) since July 2024, develops, constructs and operates renewable energy generation and storage projects across Australia, primarily in Queensland and New South Wales. The company offers a diverse portfolio encompassing large-scale battery energy storage systems including the operational 50MW/100MWh Bouldercombe Battery Project; solar farms such as the operational 50MW Kidston Stage 1 Solar Project and 50MW Jemalong Solar Project; pumped storage hydro exemplified by the flagship 250MW/2,000MWh Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project under construction; wind generation through the 258MW Kidston Stage 3 Wind Project and 120MW component of the 270MW Kidston Hybrid Project; and hybrid solutions integrating solar, wind, pumped hydro and battery storage at the Kidston Clean Energy Hub, with further expansion via the up to 2GW Bulli Creek Clean Energy Park featuring a 775MW Stage 1 solar project. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Sydney, Genex targets the National Electricity Market with dispatchable clean energy solutions for utilities and commercial customers. Recent developments include the completion of J-POWER's full acquisition in July 2024 making Genex delisted from the ASX; strengthening of its partnership with Stanwell Corporation through a 15-year power purchase agreement in September 2024 for 550MW from the Bulli Creek Stage 1 solar project, securing 71% offtake after terminating a prior agreement with Fortescue; progression of construction on the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project maintained under a 30-year agreement with EnergyAustralia; and commercial operations commencement at the Bouldercombe battery project.
