- Grenergy Renovables, S.A. is a Spanish multinational company specializing in the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy projects, primarily solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants and energy storage solutions. Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Madrid, Spain, the company operates mainly in Europe and Latin America, with established presences in Spain, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru. Its core products and services include the development and execution of solar and wind energy projects; managing photovoltaic plants; hybrid photovoltaic and energy storage systems; and operation and maintenance (O&M) services. Grenergy is recognized as an independent power producer (IPP) with a portfolio comprising development, construction, and operation of renewable assets with a capacity of close to 1,000 MW, including large-scale projects such as the Oasis de Atacama solar and storage complex in Chile.
In the latest developments, Grenergy has pursued a strategic asset rotation plan targeting €800 million in disposals by 2027, having already achieved over 60% of this target through recent transactions. In December 2025, the company agreed to sell seven distributed photovoltaic plants in Colombia with a total installed capacity of 88 MW to Ecopetrol, Colombia's leading oil and energy company, while retaining operation and maintenance contracts for up to two years. Other significant transactions include the sale of photovoltaic plants in Spain and Chile, notably from the Oasis de Atacama platform, collectively valued near USD 1.5 billion. Grenergy also announced a major expansion and investment plan, committing approximately €3.5 billion until 2027 to bolster its leadership in energy storage technology, including a strategic partnership with CATL for battery supply. It is also expanding its solar project pipeline in the US and Europe, enhancing diversification and global footprint.
The company targets utility-scale renewable energy markets, other developers, and energy retailers, focusing on delivering clean, affordable, reliable energy solutions. Grenergy continues to expand its hybrid solar-plus-storage offerings, emphasizing sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) commitments that have placed it among top rankings in sustainability. Notably, Grenergy reported a sevenfold increase in net profit and a 147% revenue growth in the first nine months of 2025, reflecting operational scale-up and financial strength despite a high leverage ratio due to growth investments. The company maintains a strong project pipeline across Latin America and Europe, with ongoing construction and development phases aimed at delivering significant renewable capacity in the coming years.
