Business
HBL Engineering Limited, formerly HBL Power Systems Limited, manufactures specialized batteries, power electronics, railway signaling systems, defense electronics, and e-mobility solutions. The company produces lead-acid, nickel-cadmium, and lithium-ion batteries for telecommunications, UPS systems, electric vehicles, renewable energy storage, aerospace, and military applications; uninterruptible power supplies, inverters, rectifiers, and chargers for data centers, hospitals, solar, telecom, and railways; railway signaling electronics, train collision avoidance systems, centralized train control, train management systems, DC power systems, battery monitoring, and electric drive trains; energy storage systems, battery management systems, solar power solutions, and EV chargers; as well as electronic fuzes for ammunition, voltage regulators, and earth leakage monitors. HBL Engineering operates primarily in India with manufacturing facilities in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, and maintains international presence through subsidiaries in Germany and the United States, serving transportation, oil and gas, power, telecom, defense, aviation, and stationary engine starting sectors. Founded in 1977 and headquartered in Hyderabad, India, the company is a subsidiary of Aluru Family Private Trust. In November 2024, HBL Power Systems changed its name to HBL Engineering Limited; it recently secured a Rs 1,522.4 crore order for TCAS installation across 2,200 locomotives and pursues expansions in Africa and Southeast Asia alongside acquisitions totaling approximately Rs 500 million to bolster technological capabilities.
