Business
International Graphite Limited (ASX:IG6) develops a vertically integrated mine-to-market graphite business in Western Australia, focusing on exploration, mining, and downstream processing of natural flake graphite into high-value products for industrial applications and lithium-ion battery markets. The company produces micronized graphite, spheroidized graphite, battery anode materials, and expandable graphite through its qualification-scale processing facility and planned commercial plants at Collie; it holds 100% interest in the Springdale Graphite Project near Hopetoun, which supplies feedstock for these operations. International Graphite operates primarily in Australia with processing facilities under development in Germany and potential expansion into the United States, targeting customers in electric vehicle battery manufacturing, renewable energy, and traditional industries such as refractories and lubricants. Founded in 2018 and headquartered in North Perth, Australia, the company recently formed a joint venture with Arctic Graphite AS and Graphite Investment Partners in July 2025 to establish an expandable graphite production facility in Germany, enhancing Europe's supply security amid geopolitical tensions; it secured a $4.5 million Western Australian government grant in late 2024 to commence construction of a 3,000-4,000 tonnes per annum commercial micronising plant at Collie, received an additional $4 million grant in January 2025 for trial mining at Springdale and Australia's first graphite spheroidiser installation, and acquired land in the Collie Light Industrial Area in 2025 to support facility expansion.
