Business
Aura Minerals Inc. is a mid-tier gold and copper production company focused on the development and operation of gold and base metal projects in the Americas. The company’s core products include gold, copper, and silver concentrates derived from its operating mines. Its key assets include the Minosa mine in Honduras; the Apoena and Almas gold mines in Brazil; the Aranzazu copper-gold-silver mine in Mexico; and the Borborema gold project in Brazil, held via a joint venture. Aura Minerals also pursues exploration and development of additional gold projects in Brazil and Colombia. The company was founded in 1946 and is headquartered in Coconut Grove, Florida. Recent major developments include the 2025 acquisition of the Mineração Serra Grande gold mine in Goiás, Brazil, from AngloGold Ashanti, representing a significant expansion in Brazil. In 2024, Aura invested approximately US$159 million in growth initiatives including expansion projects at its Almas mine and exploration activities that increased its measured and indicated resources, notably at Apoena and Aranzazu. The company also began molybdenum recovery at the Aranzazu processing plant, diversifying its by-product stream. In late 2024, Aura announced the acquisition of the Pé Quente and Pezão projects in the Alta Floresta Gold Province of Brazil, further strengthening its asset base. Additionally, Aura completed the acquisition of Bluestone Resources’ Cerro Blanco gold project and the adjacent Mita geothermal project, enhancing its Central American presence through strategic geographic expansion. Aura Minerals operates primarily in Latin America, with a focus on mining operations and project development across Honduras, Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia. Its business segments include gold and copper production, project development, and exploratory ventures in base and precious metals. The company emphasizes disciplined growth through strategic acquisitions and operational improvements while maintaining a strong safety record and delivering shareholder returns through dividends and share repurchases. Aura Minerals remains committed to increasing mineral reserves and resource bases while advancing projects that support long-term growth and sustainability in the mining sector.
