- Punjab Chemicals and Crop Protection Limited manufactures agrochemicals, specialty chemicals, and industrial chemicals. The company produces technical-grade agrochemicals including herbicides such as metamitron, ethofumesate, diflufenican, lenacil, cyanazine, chlorpropham (CIPC), and MCPP-P; insecticides and fungicides such as metalaxyl, captan, and hexaconazole; pharmaceutical active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) including trimethoprim IP/BP/USP/EP, etoricoxib, celecoxib, albendazole USP/BP/IP, and drotaverine HCL; pharmaceutical intermediates and advanced intermediates; fine chemicals and specialty chemicals including derivatives from gallic acid; basic chemicals and industrial chemicals such as oxalates and intermediates; and phosphorus derivatives and phosphates. It operates through business units focused on agro and basic chemicals in Derabassi, specialty and other chemicals in Lalru, industrial chemicals in Pune, and international trading in Mumbai; provides research and development facilities, pilot plant facilities, and contract manufacturing services; and exports to markets across Europe, USA, Canada, Latin America, Japan, Israel, and others while serving domestic customers in India.
Founded in 1975 as Punjab United Pesticides & Chemicals Ltd. in joint collaboration with Excel Industries Ltd. and Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation, the company is headquartered in Mumbai with its registered office in Derabassi, Punjab, and maintains manufacturing sites in Derabassi, Lalru (Punjab), and Pune (Maharashtra), all certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
In July 2025, Punjab Chemicals signs three exclusive memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with overseas customers to commercialize high-value new agrochemical products and intermediates over the next 12-18 months, backed by a strategic investment of approximately Rs. 60 crore to construct two new manufacturing blocks at its existing site for increased demand, new product pipeline, and markets in Japan and Europe; this expansion, already environmentally approved, targets additional sales of Rs. 120-150 crore over the next 2-3 years while the company scouts for a new site to support growth.
