Business
Quantum Foods Holdings Ltd is a South Africa-based integrated feed, poultry and egg producer that supplies animal protein products to livestock farmers, processors, retailers and consumers in South Africa and select African markets including Zambia, Uganda and Mozambique. The company operates through Eggs, Farming, Animal Feeds, and Other African Countries segments; produces and distributes ungraded and graded eggs, liquid eggs under the Nulaid and Quantum brands; breeds and sells layer parent stock, hatching eggs, day-old pullets and point-of-lay hens; rears layer and broiler livestock for internal use and supplies broilers and day-old commercial broiler chicks under brands such as Bergvlei Chick and Bellevue Chix to abattoirs and external farmers; manufactures customized broiler and layer poultry feeds, dairy, sheep, cattle, ostrich and pig feeds under the Nova Feeds brand at feed mills in South Africa. Founded in 2013 and headquartered at 11 Main Road, Wellington, Western Cape, South Africa, Quantum Foods maintains an optimized value chain from procurement and farming through manufacturing, processing and distribution, primarily by road to formal retail, informal markets, wholesalers and industrial customers, with net sales distributed 93.5% in South Africa and 6.5% across Africa. Recent developments include the acquisition of a 9.77% stake by an undisclosed buyer from Astral Foods Limited in March 2024, enhancing its shareholder base, alongside the release of unaudited condensed consolidated interim financial statements for the six months ended March 31, 2025, reflecting ongoing operational focus amid sector challenges.
