Power Assets Holdings Limited (0006.HK) is an investment holding company focused on the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity; the transmission of electricity and oil; and the distribution of electricity, gas and water primarily in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Australia, Mainland China, Thailand, the Netherlands, Canada and New Zealand. The company, founded in 1976 and headquartered in Central, Hong Kong, holds a 33% stake in HK Electric Investments Limited, which through HK Electric supplies electricity to Hong Kong Island and Lamma Island with a generating capacity of around 3,400 MW from gas-fired, coal-fired and renewable sources; a 40% interest in UK Power Networks, one of the UK's largest electricity distribution networks; stakes in gas distribution networks including Northern Gas Networks (41%), Wales & West Utilities (30%) and Phoenix Energy (20% acquired in April 2024); electricity distribution assets in Australia such as SA Power Networks, CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy; renewable energy investments including 32 wind farms (175 MW capacity, 20% stake acquired in August 2024), UU Solar (70 assets acquired May 2024), Energy Developments Limited (20%), Dali and Laoting Wind Farms (45%); power generation facilities like Ratchaburi Electricity (25%), Jinwan Power Plant (45%), Seabank Power and AVR waste-to-energy; midstream assets such as Husky Midstream (49%) and Dampier Bunbury Pipelines; and other holdings including Wellington Electricity (50%) and Canadian Power (50%). In 2024, Power Assets deepened strategic partnerships with CK Infrastructure Holdings Limited and CK Asset Holdings Limited through joint acquisitions of Phoenix Energy and UK onshore wind farms from Aviva, enhancing its low-carbon portfolio; HK Electric commissioned a new 380-MW gas-fired unit (L12), retired two coal units, and launched a HK$22 billion 2024-2028 development plan for grid resilience and renewables; and UK Power Networks acquired UU Solar for diversified renewable generation with 90% revenue from long-term contracts.
