Business
Fortuna Mining Corp. is a Canadian-based precious metals mining company focused on the production of gold and silver, with by-products of lead and zinc; it operates mines in Argentina, Côte d’Ivoire and Peru, and conducts exploration activities in Senegal. The company produces gold at the Séguéla Mine in Côte d’Ivoire, the Lindero Mine in Argentina, silver-lead and zinc concentrates at the Caylloma Mine in Peru, and formerly at the San Jose silver-gold mine in Mexico. Fortuna Mining Corp., founded in 2005 and headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, with regional head offices in Lima, Peru and Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, lists its shares on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: FSM), Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX: FVI) and Frankfurt Stock Exchange (F4S0); it emphasizes efficient production, environmental stewardship and social responsibility across its operations in Latin America and West Africa. In 2024, the company changed its name from Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. to Fortuna Mining Corp. to reflect its expanded focus on gold production; it divested the San Jose Mine in Mexico by selling Compañia Minera Cuzcatlán to Minas del Balsas in early 2025 and exited Burkina Faso operations, including the Yaramoko Mine, for $130 million to strengthen its balance sheet and pursue opportunities in coastal West Africa, Argentina, Guyana, Mexico and Peru. Most recently, in October 2025, Fortuna executed a binding Heads of Agreement with DeSoto Resources Limited to form an exploration alliance and joint venture in Guinea’s Siguiri Basin, where it will fund up to $12.5 million in exploration over three years and earn a 70% stake in significant discoveries; it also announced a Preliminary Economic Assessment for the Diamba Sud Gold Project in Senegal, targeting a construction decision in the first half of 2026.
