Founded in 1968 and headquartered in Markham, Ontario, Extendicare employs around 23,000 staff focused on the long-term care, home health care, and managed services segments. In November 2025, Extendicare announced the acquisition of CBI Home Health for $570 million in cash plus lease liabilities, expected to close in Q1 2026, which will expand ParaMed's footprint into seven provinces with over 10 million additional annual care hours, enhance Western Canada presence particularly in Alberta, introduce innovative hospital-to-home and interdisciplinary care models, and generate $7.4 million in initial IT and cost synergies plus longer-term productivity gains of $5.0 to $7.0 million.
