Business
Johnson Controls International plc (JCI LN) is an Irish-domiciled multinational conglomerate that designs, manufactures, installs and services building technologies including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, building management and automation platforms such as OpenBlue and Metasys, industrial refrigeration equipment under brands like Frick and Sabroe, fire detection and suppression solutions, integrated security and access control systems, and energy efficiency services for commercial, industrial, institutional and data center facilities worldwide; the company operates across four segments encompassing Building Solutions North America, Building Solutions EMEA/LA, Building Solutions Asia Pacific, and Global Products, serving customers in over 150 countries with more than 94,000 employees. Founded in 1885 by Warren S. Johnson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as the Johnson Electric Service Company following his invention of the electric room thermostat, it merged with Tyco International in 2016 to form its current structure and relocated global headquarters to Cork, Ireland. In recent developments, Johnson Controls completed the $8 billion all-cash sale of its residential and light commercial HVAC business, including the York, Coleman and North America ducted operations as well as the global residential joint venture with Hitachi Ltd., to Bosch Group in August 2025, enabling a strategic focus on commercial and high-growth building solutions amid 3% full-year sales growth and 6% organic sales increase for fiscal 2025; the company also divested its CPVC pipe and fittings business for residential sprinkler systems to Aliaxis in December 2024.
