Viva Biotech Holdings (1873.HK) is a China-based investment holding company principally engaged in providing structure-based drug discovery (SBDD) and contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) services to global biotechnology and pharmaceutical customers for preclinical and innovative drug development programs. Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Shanghai, China, the company offers comprehensive one-stop solutions including protein expression, purification and structural biology using X-ray crystallization and Cryo-EM; hit discovery via DEL, ASMS screening, fragment-based drug discovery (FBDD) and affinity selection; bioassays, biomolecular interactions, ADME/PK studies; therapeutic antibody discovery, expression and production; computer-aided drug design (CADD/AIDD), medicinal chemistry from hit-to-lead optimization, custom synthesis, chemical analysis, purification and kilogram-scale up; PROTAC/molecular glue and XDC platforms; as well as small molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) development, formulation, GMP-compliant manufacturing through subsidiary Langhua Pharma, and CMC filing support; alongside an equity-for-service (EFS) model investing in high-potential biotech startups. It operates primarily in the United States, China, Europe and other regions, serving biopharma innovators across small molecules and biologics modalities with laboratories in Shanghai, Jiaxing, Suzhou and Chengdu. Recent developments include CRO revenue returning to positive growth in the 2025 interim period driven by AI-enabled initiatives contributing nearly 10% of revenue and strategic alliances with domestic pharmaceutical firms; enhanced CDMO profitability with preparations for new commercial projects and PPQ production underway following full acquisition of Zhejiang Langhua Pharmaceutical; portfolio companies raising approximately US$293.6 million with 228 pipeline projects and 18 investment exits; new investments in assets like Kriya, Piara, Bioabs, Dogma, Arrosia, Basking, Cybrexa and FuseBio; establishment of an RMB 250 million biopharmaceutical investment fund via subsidiary Hangzhou Viva Zongchen in May 2025; and restructuring of Viva Biotech Shanghai into a joint stock limited company in September 2024.
