Business
Arbuthnot Banking Group PLC provides private and commercial banking, wealth management, and specialist lending services primarily in the United Kingdom. The company operates through segments including Banking, which offers current and deposit accounts, loans, overdrafts, guarantees, charge cards, foreign exchange, mortgage portfolio services, and bespoke commercial banking; Wealth Management, encompassing financial planning, investment and asset management; Renaissance Asset Finance (RAF), specializing in asset finance for high-value cars and business assets; Arbuthnot Commercial Asset Based Lending (ACABL), providing secured finance on invoices, assets, and stock; Asset Alliance Group (AAG), delivering commercial vehicle finance in truck, trailer, bus, and coach markets; and other divisions offering deposits via internet platforms and specialist property finance. Founded in 1833 and headquartered at 7 Wilson Street in London, Arbuthnot Banking Group maintains offices across the UK including Gatwick, Manchester, Exeter, and Bristol, serving professional, entrepreneurial, and high-net-worth clients with a relationship-led approach. Recent developments include strong growth in funds under management and administration to £2.5 billion as of September 2025, up 24% year-over-year, driven by over 1,200 new banking clients onboarded in 2024 and a 51% increase in Wealth Planning clients; deposit balances rising 17% year-on-year to £4.257 billion by April 2025, reflecting robust inflows from new and existing clients; and sustained strategic focus on specialist lending amid economic uncertainty, with AAG originating £41 million in bus and coach assets in early 2025 and ACABL's block discounting business expanding 16% in the period despite a 6% overall loan book contraction. In 2024, the group launched a Direct Gilt Service for wealth management clients to enable direct access to UK government bonds, enhancing fixed-income offerings.
