Business
DFI Retail Group Holdings Limited is a leading Asian retail company primarily engaged in the retailing of food, health and beauty products, convenience goods, home furnishings, and restaurant services. The Group operates a diversified portfolio of well-known brands including supermarkets and hypermarkets (Wellcome, Giant, Cold Storage, Jasons Market Place, Hero), health and beauty stores (Mannings, Guardian), convenience stores (7-Eleven), home furnishings (IKEA in Hong Kong, Macau, Indonesia, and Taiwan), and restaurants via Maxim's Catering. Its extensive product offerings include grocery and household goods, personal care, baby products, wine, frozen foods, and ready-to-eat meals. Founded in 1886 and headquartered at Devon House, Taikoo Place, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong, the company operates predominantly across East and Southeast Asia, serving diverse markets such as Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Brunei. In the latest developments through 2024 and 2025, DFI Retail Group has focused on enhancing its value proposition and expanding its ready-to-eat product portfolio by launching approximately 250 Food Bars in 2025. It entered a strategic 5-year partnership with Toumi Foods, a major rice exporter in Thailand, to strengthen its food supply chain. The Group continues to expand omnichannel retail presence and advance sustainability initiatives by offering a growing range of certified sustainable products across its divisions. Financially, it improved profitability and cash generation significantly, reporting a 48% year-on-year increase in underlying profit in Q3 2025 and strengthening its balance sheet to a net cash position of US$648 million at September 2025, enabling a special dividend payout to shareholders. The Group also remains committed to shareholder returns with a 70% dividend payout policy and continues divesting non-core assets to sharpen strategic focus. DFI Retail Group is a subsidiary of Jardine Matheson Group with Jardine Strategic holding approximately 78% stake, and it maintains multiple listings including the London Stock Exchange. Its business segments target mass-market to premium retail consumers across a variety of retail formats, underpinned by a robust supply chain and extensive store network, making it one of the foremost retail conglomerates in Asia.
