Business
Engenco Limited provides specialist engineering products and services to the defence, resources, marine, power generation, rail, mining, and infrastructure sectors through its three core business streams of Power and Propulsion, Rail, and Workforce Solutions; offers maintenance, manufacturing, repair, asset management, engineering, and training services; and employs more than 500 people across Australia with an extensive national footprint. In Power and Propulsion, Drivetrain supplies engine and powertrain maintenance, repair, and overhaul, fluid connector products, power generation design and construction, technical support, professional engineering, and training to mining, oil and gas, rail, transport, defence, marine, construction, materials handling, automotive, agriculture, and power generation industries; Convair manufactures, supplies, and services pneumatic conveying equipment for dry bulk materials including cement, fly ash, lime, flocculant, flour, sugar, stockfeed, and plastic pellets; and Hedemora Turbo and Diesel produces turbochargers and diesel engines for rail, power generation, and marine applications. The Rail stream, through Gemco Rail, supplies, maintains, and overhauls locomotives, wagons, passenger cars, rollingstock components, and track maintenance equipment, including wheelsets, bogies, in-field wagon maintenance, new and refurbished wagons, bogie parts, and custom remote-controlled ballast cars, with facilities in Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. Workforce Solutions delivers rail training and labour hire via Centre for Excellence in Rail Training (CERT Training), Total Momentum apprenticeships and traineeships, and Eureka 4WD Training for commercial, recreational, quad bike, side-by-side utility vehicle, and truck courses. Founded in 1989 and headquartered at 140 William Street, Melbourne, Australia, Engenco targets customers in heavy industry and transport sectors primarily in Australia. Recent developments include Elph Investments Pty Ltd, part of the Elphinstone Group, completing its takeover of Engenco in 2025 after an off-market offer at $0.31 per share, having previously held about 68.6% alongside associates and acquiring the remaining shares; Gemco Rail partnering with Rio Tinto and Qiqihar Railway Rolling Stock in 2024, supported by the Western Australian Government, to manufacture 100 iron ore rail cars over six years and establish bearing maintenance in the Pilbara region at a new Karratha facility; and executing a strategic partnership with Higher Power Industries for locomotive parts distribution in Australia and New Zealand.
