Business
Faron Pharmaceuticals Oy (AIM: FARN, First North: FARON) is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel immunotherapies that target myeloid cells to activate anti-tumor immunity in hematological malignancies and solid tumors; its lead candidates include bexmarilimab, a first-in-class anti-CLEVER-1 humanized antibody reprogramming immunosuppressive tumor-associated macrophages to promote immune activation in combination with standard-of-care therapies such as azacitidine for relapsed/refractory and frontline high-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML), as well as Traumakine, an investigational intravenous interferon beta-1a therapy addressing cytokine release syndrome, ischemia, hyperinflammatory conditions, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and organ damage. Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Turku, Finland, the company operates globally with clinical trials conducted in Europe and the United States, targeting unmet needs in oncology and immune-mediated diseases through its proprietary platforms. Recent developments include positive Phase II data from the BEXMAB trial showing 43% complete remission rates and strong survival outcomes in high-risk MDS, FDA and EMA orphan drug designations for bexmarilimab in MDS with alignment on a registrational Phase II/III trial design using complete remission plus complete remission with equivocal recovery as a primary endpoint for accelerated approval potential, a EUR 12 million oversubscribed private placement of treasury shares in February 2025, an up to EUR 35 million convertible bond facility with Heights Capital Management including a EUR 15 million first tranche to repay prior debt and extend cash runway into 2026, Business Finland forgiveness of a EUR 1.3 million Traumakine-related R&D loan in July 2025, appointments of CEO Juho Jalkanen and Colin Bond to the Board in March 2025 and Chief Business Officer Ralph Hughes in May 2025, and oral presentations of bexmarilimab data at ESMO, ASCO, EHA, and MDS 2025 conferences alongside publication in The Lancet Haematology.
