Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. (Generali) is a multinational insurance and asset management group providing life insurance, including savings, unit-linked, protection and annuity products; property and casualty insurance covering damage to property, personal injury, public liability, fire and home policies; and asset management services focused on listed and unlisted financial instruments for optimal risk-adjusted returns; alongside holding and other businesses supporting group operations. Founded in 1831 and headquartered in Trieste, Italy, the company operates through five business units—Italy; Germany, Austria and Switzerland; France and Global Business Activities; International; and Asset & Wealth Management—serving 71 million customers across more than 50 countries worldwide, including Europe, North and South America, Asia-Pacific, Africa and the Middle East, with subsidiaries such as Banca Generali. In recent developments, Generali signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding in January 2025 with BPCE to form a 50-50 joint venture combining Generali Investments Holding and Natixis Investment Managers, creating Europe's second-largest asset manager with approximately €1.9 trillion in assets under management; additionally, in October 2025, Generali Investments completed the acquisition of a majority stake in MGG Investment Group, enhancing its US middle-market direct lending capabilities.
