Business
Galliford Try Holdings PLC is a leading UK construction company focused on building and infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients. Formed in 2000 through the merger of Try Group plc, founded in 1908, and Galliford plc, founded in 1916, the company is headquartered at Blake House, 3 Frayswater Place, Cowley, Uxbridge, Middlesex, UB8 2AD, United Kingdom, and operates exclusively within the United Kingdom across building, infrastructure, and public-private partnership (PPP) investments segments. Its building division constructs facilities in health, education, custodial, defense, and commercial markets; the infrastructure division designs, builds, and maintains highways, roads, rail, airports, water treatment systems, flood alleviation, and environmental projects; and PPP investments involve funding and facilities management for constructed buildings via fixed-price, cost-plus, target cost, framework, and long-term private finance contracts. Subsidiaries include Galliford Try for main contracting, Morrison Construction for Scottish operations, Ham Baker Engineering for asset inspection and maintenance, Oak Specialist Services for facades, cladding, fire protection and maintenance, Asset Intelligence for physical, electronic and fire security systems, Lintott for factory-built treatment systems and controls, and AVRS Systems for mechanical and electrical engineering. In recent developments, the company sold its housebuilding businesses, including Linden Homes, to Bovis Homes (now Vistry Group) in January 2020 for £1.1 billion, enabling a strategic refocus on construction, highways, and environment markets; acquired NMCN's water business for £1 million in October 2021 and moved its headquarters to Grove Park, Leicester, in December 2021; announced a return to the affordable housing market in May 2024 as part of a new growth strategy; reported strong FY25 performance in its trading update with high order backlog; expressed intent to pursue acquisitions in October 2024; and saw its Asset Intelligence subsidiary win awards at the Security and Fire Excellence Awards in December 2025.
