Business
Compagnie de Saint-Gobain S.A. (GOB.SW) manufactures and distributes a broad range of construction materials and high-performance solutions for sustainable building, energy efficiency, and industrial applications worldwide. The company offers glass products including flat glass, processed glass for automotive and architecture under brands such as Saint-Gobain Glass and Sekurit; construction chemicals encompassing mortars, adhesives, sealants, and waterproofing systems via brands like Weber and Parex; high-performance materials such as ceramics, abrasives, plastics, and refractories for industrial uses through subsidiaries including Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics and Saint-Gobain Abrasives; gypsum products for drywall and ceilings under Placo brand; and pipe systems for water, sewer, and construction via Pam brand. It operates in over 70 countries across Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific, and other regions, serving residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure markets. Founded in 1665 and headquartered in La Défense, Courbevoie, France, Saint-Gobain focuses on four main business segments: new housing and renovations; sustainable lightweight construction; energy efficiency and decarbonization; and industrial applications. Recent developments include the acquisition of FOSROC in 2024 to strengthen its construction chemicals portfolio globally; the launch of new high-performance glazing solutions for net-zero buildings in 2025; and strategic partnerships such as with Holcim for low-carbon construction materials; alongside ongoing divestitures of non-core assets like certain glass distribution businesses to streamline operations.
