Business
Idaho Champion Gold Mines Canada Inc. is a discovery-focused mineral exploration company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, and development of precious and battery metals properties, primarily gold, silver, cobalt, and lithium deposits in the United States and Canada. The company holds 100%-owned projects including the Champagne polymetallic gold-silver project in Butte County near Arco, Idaho, which features epigenetic-style mineralization in altered Tertiary volcanics with near-surface caps and higher-grade feeder zones; four cobalt properties in Lemhi County within the Idaho Cobalt Belt; and lithium projects in Quebec, Canada. Founded prior to 2015 and headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, its shares trade on the Canadian Securities Exchange under the ticker ITKO.CN, OTCQB as GLDRF, and Frankfurt as 1QB1; operations target the Idaho region for gold and cobalt, with expansion into Quebec lithium. In July 2024, the company, operating as Champion Electric Metals Inc., signed a definitive option agreement with Prestwick Capital Corporation Limited to sell its Baner Gold Project in Idaho County, comprising 215 claims over 3,818 acres with prospective gold zones, for cash payments, securities issuances, and a 1% net smelter return royalty; the transaction closed in October 2024 following TSX Venture Exchange approvals. This divestiture of the non-core Baner asset marked a strategic shift toward battery metals focus, including lithium pegmatite targets identified in Quebec during 2022-2023 exploration and cobalt advancements, alongside commendation of major lithium sector consolidations like Rio Tinto's acquisition of Arcadium Lithium in October 2024.
