Business
Kooth plc is a United Kingdom-based provider of digital mental health services offering clinically accredited online platforms for therapeutic support and interventions. The company operates Kooth.com, which delivers anonymous and personalized mental health support, online counselling, coaching, peer communities, and content libraries for children, young people, and adults commissioned by the NHS, local authorities, charities, and businesses in the UK and the US; Qwell.io, which supports adult mental health for specific cohorts including employers and public sector clients; and Soluna, a comprehensive platform for youth aged 13-25 providing mental health services, self-guided tools, and connections to public services via app, web, and contact center, primarily in the US. Founded in 2001 and headquartered in London, Kooth plc serves markets in the UK across England, Wales, Scotland, and the Isle of Man, and in the US including all 58 California counties, New Jersey school districts, and Illinois through partnerships, while exploring further international expansion. Recent developments include a $1.45m pilot contract with the State of New Jersey launched in January 2025 using the Soluna platform to reach 50,000 students aged 13-18, alongside a private sector partnership with Aetna Better Health in Illinois and expansions in California serving 75,000 young people by early 2025; 2024 revenues reached approximately £65.8m with adjusted EBITDA of at least £12.7m and cash of £21.5m; longer-term NHS contract renewals in areas such as Cornwall; a £1.5m share buyback program; and a leadership transition with Tim Barker stepping down as CEO in June 2025 to be succeeded by Kate Newhouse as sole CEO following a joint CEO period.
