Business
Clariane SE, formerly known as Korian SE, is a leading European provider of care services for the elderly and vulnerable individuals, operating through three core pillars: long-term care nursing homes offering residential and day care; specialty care facilities providing medical, post-acute and rehabilitation services, mental health care, intensive home care, community nursing, and outpatient diagnosis programs; and community care solutions including assisted living residences, shared living houses, and domiciliary home services. The company manages approximately 1,220 facilities, supporting nearly 90,000 residents in 666 long-term care sites (under brands such as Korian and Seniors Residencias), over 700,000 patients annually in 277 specialty care establishments (including Inicea, Grupo 5, and Ita Salud Mental), and more than 80,000 individuals via shared living and home agencies. Clariane serves public and private clients across the healthcare and social services sectors, with a focus on personalized support amid demographic and vulnerability challenges. Founded in 2003 and headquartered at 21-25 rue Balzac in Paris, France, Clariane conducts operations in six European countries: France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain, employing around 63,000 professionals to deliver services in over 700 cities and communities. The company generated group turnover of approximately EUR 5.31 billion in 2024, reflecting organic growth amid its strategic positioning in residential nursing care, specialized health services, and alternative living solutions. In recent major developments, Clariane rebranded from Korian in June 2023 to emphasize its purpose-led mission of caring for humanity in vulnerability, while launching the "At Your Side" corporate project. The company completed a comprehensive financial strengthening plan in 2025, including a EUR 400 million bond issuance in June, renewal of its revolving credit facility, and a series of asset disposals totaling EUR 1 billion, highlighted by the sale of its Petits-fils home care network to Crédit Agricole Santé & Territoires for EUR 345 million in June 2025, alongside discussions for a nationwide service partnership. Additional capital increases in 2024-2025, such as a reserved offering and rights issue, bolstered its structure, with Crédit Agricole Assurances acquiring a significant stake to reach about 21.1% ownership. These moves support ongoing expansions in core activities while optimizing its European footprint.
