Business
LION E-Mobility AG is a Swiss holding company focused on the development, production, and distribution of lithium-ion battery packs, modules, and battery management systems for electromobility and stationary energy storage applications. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, the company operates through subsidiaries including LION Smart Production GmbH in Germany, which manufactures high-performance battery packs with an annual capacity of 45,000 units or 2 GWh, and LION Smart GmbH, which specializes in custom battery integration using BMW i3 packs, advanced battery management systems, and electrification solutions for commercial vehicles such as buses and trucks; it also provides testing services for electrical energy storage systems via a 30% stake in TUV SUD Battery Testing GmbH and serves original equipment manufacturers in the automotive sector, battery energy storage systems, and industrial applications across Europe with plans for further geographic expansion. Recent developments include a strategic partnership announced in November 2025 between LION Smart Production GmbH and Castrol to jointly develop innovative battery modules featuring direct battery cooling technology using Castrol ON EV thermal fluids for enhanced thermal management in passenger cars, trucks, and battery energy storage systems worldwide; a major order worth over EUR 12 million from bus manufacturer KARSAN in early 2024 for battery packs to support electric bus production; strengthened European battery energy storage systems sales leadership with the addition of Daniel Stitz and Alex Triglia in December 2025 targeting Germany and Italy; confirmation of 2025 revenue guidance between EUR 28 million and EUR 35 million amid positive Q3 performance and focus on immersion technology series development and new OEM projects; a cooperation with Münchner Solarkraftwerke for over 40 large-scale storage and PV projects in Germany; and partial conversion of a convertible bond in November 2025 to bolster financial flexibility.
