Business
Orior AG is a Switzerland-based food and beverage company specializing in fresh convenience foods and refined meats, operating through three main segments: Orior Convenience, Orior Refinement, and Orior International. The Orior Convenience segment produces fresh convenience products including chilled ready-made meals, patés and terrines, fresh pasta, vegetarian and vegan specialties, cooked poultry and meat products, as well as organic vegetable and fruit juices distributed via retail and food service channels. The Orior Refinement segment focuses on traditional products such as Bündnerfleisch, cured and cooked ham, salami, and Mostbröckli, marketed to food retailing, restaurant, and food service sectors. The Orior International segment includes entities such as Culinor Food Group in Benelux, Casualfood specializing in food service to-go, and Biotta with organic vegetable juices, extending operations beyond Switzerland into major European markets. Founded in 1852 and headquartered in Zurich, Orior AG has expanded through a series of acquisitions including Salumeria Keller SA, Bernatur, Noppa AG, Thurella AG, and Culinor Food Group, enhancing its portfolio across convenience foods, organic beverages, and specialized meat products. Recent major changes include the 2024 sale of Albert Spiess assets to Mérat AG as part of a restructuring strategy to improve profitability and reduce debt, as well as ongoing organizational measures to sharpen its core business focus. The company continues to develop its ready-made meals and innovative product launches, driving growth particularly in retail and food service, with its International segment posting notable sales increase driven by Culinor and Casualfood. Additionally, Orior maintains strategic alliances in logistics and food-to-go concepts, reinforcing its position in premium fresh convenience foods and expanding organic beverage offerings. The company employs around 2,300 people and reported steady revenue growth in the first half of 2024 despite challenges in the traditional retail channel, with a clear focus on improving operational efficiency and market presence across Switzerland and key European regions.
