Business
OZ Minerals Limited OZ Minerals Limited (OZL.AX), a subsidiary of BHP Group Limited since its acquisition in May 2023, engages in the exploration, development, mining, and processing of copper, gold, silver, and nickel deposits primarily in Australia and Brazil. The company owns and operates the Prominent Hill copper-gold-silver mine and the Carrapateena copper-gold-silver underground mine, both located in South Australia; the Antas copper-gold mine and Pedra Branca copper project in the Carajás region of Pará state, Brazil; and the CentroGold gold project in Maranhão state, Brazil; while also holding interests in the West Musgrave copper-nickel project in Western Australia's Musgrave Province and exploration assets at Mt Woods and Stuart Shelf in South Australia. OZ Minerals produces copper, gold, and silver concentrates for sale to global smelters and markets, targeting mid-tier production levels with annual output historically around 125,000 metric tons of copper and 240,000 ounces of gold, serving customers in the energy transition and industrial sectors across Australia, Brazil, and international markets. Founded in 2008 through the merger of Oxiana Limited and Zinifex Limited and headquartered in Adelaide, South Australia, the company underwent its most significant recent change with BHP's A$9.6 billion scheme of arrangement takeover in 2023, which delisted OZL.AX from the ASX, integrated its South Australian assets with BHP's Olympic Dam operations to form a major copper province, expanded BHP's nickel portfolio via West Musgrave, and retained most of OZ Minerals' workforce to drive sustainable growth in critical minerals for electric vehicles, wind turbines, and solar panels.
