The company produces caustic soda lye and flakes for applications in paper and pulp, soaps and detergents, textiles, dyes, aluminum, and water demineralization; hydrochloric acid for metal pickling, water demineralization in power and fertilizer plants, and preparation of metal chlorides; liquid chlorine for water treatment, paper manufacturing, stable bleaching powder, CPVC, PVC, and chlor-organic chemicals; sodium hypochlorite for textile bleaching, laundry, and drinking water disinfection; hydrogen gas as fuel and coolant in power plants, hydrogenation of vegetable oils, and optical fiber units; stable bleaching powder as an oxidizing and disinfecting agent in textiles, aquaculture, and water treatment; and aluminum chloride for water treatment, slurry separation, paper sizing, dye decolorization in textiles, and sewage treatment. Incorporated in 1975 and headquartered in Chandigarh, India, with manufacturing facilities in Naya Nangal, District Ropar, Punjab, Primo Chemicals employs state-of-the-art Hoechst-Uhde membrane cell technology across two units with a combined caustic soda capacity of 500 tons per day or 165,000 tons annually, benefiting from proximity to the Bhakra Nangal Dam for uninterrupted power and strong road-rail connectivity to serve northern India and beyond. The company changed its name from Punjab Alkalies & Chemicals Limited to Primo Chemicals Limited effective December 19, 2022; in January 2024, Flowtech Industrial Projects Private Limited increased its stake to 3.98% through an off-market acquisition of 0.32% equity shares; and in August 2025, the company approved the acquisition of the remaining 51% stake in Flow Tech Chemicals Limited, along with key board appointments.
