Business
Rémy Cointreau S.A. (RCO.PA) produces and distributes premium spirits worldwide, with a portfolio centered on cognac, liqueurs, rum, brandy, gin, and whisky; core brands include Rémy Martin and Louis XIII cognacs from Grande and Petite Champagne terroirs, Cointreau triple sec liqueur, Metaxa Greek spirit, Mount Gay rum, St-Rémy brandy, The Botanist gin, Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte, and Octomore single malt whiskies from Islay Scotland, Westland American single malt whisky, and Domaine des Hautes Glaces organic French single malt whisky. The family-owned group, with origins tracing to 1724 through Rémy Martin and formalized in 1990 via merger of E. Rémy Martin & Cie SA and Cointreau & Cie SA, maintains headquarters in Cognac, France, and operates globally across more than 150 countries, with key revenue from the United States (around 40%), Asia-Pacific including China (around 30%), and Europe (around 25%). It serves premium on-trade and retail customers through direct distribution networks in major markets including Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and emerging regions. Recent developments include the launch of Rémy Cointreau Ventures (RC Ventures) corporate venture capital fund in 2024, with its inaugural minority investment in EcoSpirits for sustainable closed-loop packaging technology applied to brands like Cointreau and Mount Gay rum, expanding from the UK to the US starting in Las Vegas; an additional minority stake in JNPR, a French no/low-alcohol spirits brand, to tap the growing non-alcoholic market; and strong first-half 2025-26 sales of €489.6 million despite a -4.2% organic decline, alongside raised forecasts for the 2025-26 financial year driven by non-cognac category growth.
