- Von Roll Holding AG (ROL.SW), headquartered in Breitenbach, Switzerland and founded in 1803, specializes in high-performance electrical insulation systems, composite materials and related technologies for power generation, transmission, e-mobility and industrial applications worldwide, including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Americas. The Von Roll Insulation segment provides mica-based products for high-voltage insulation in generators, transformers and turbo generators; winding wires, coils and insulated flat wires for high- and low-voltage motors, traction drives, electric vehicles, hydro generators and wind power applications; impregnation and potting resins, varnishes, encapsulating and conformal coatings; mica tapes for fire-resistant cables; and flexible insulating materials such as laminates and slot liners for low-voltage uses. The Von Roll Composites segment supplies heat- and fire-resistant composite materials, compression-molded tiles, semi-finished laminates and machined parts for aerospace, automotive disruptions, presses, smelters, electronics, paper industry, protection and safety, battery systems, medical devices and GenSets.
In August 2023, ALTANA AG, through its ELANTAS division, acquired an 84.3% majority stake in Von Roll Holding AG from the von Finck family and management at 0.86 Swiss francs per share, followed by a public tender offer that increased its ownership to 98.5%, enhancing combined capabilities in electromobility, renewable energies, high-voltage insulation systems and special resins. In September 2025, The Gund Company acquired Von Roll's Industrial Composites Business from Von Roll Schweiz AG and Von Roll Insulation & Composites Holding AG, enabling European expansion, new market access and improved service for engineered materials in energy, aerospace and industrial sectors while allowing Von Roll to refocus on core electrification technologies. Von Roll operates through numerous subsidiaries with key facilities in Switzerland, Germany, France, Singapore, the United States and Brazil.
