Business
Seafarms Group Limited (ASX:SFG) operates as an Australian aquaculture company focused on sustainable production of high-quality prawns and seafood for domestic and export markets. The company produces and markets fresh and frozen prawns under the Crystal Bay Prawns and Crystal Bay Tiger Prawns brands, specializing in black tiger prawns (Penaeus monodon) and banana prawns; it operates prawn farming facilities in North Queensland, including sites at Cardwell and Innisfail, and develops the large-scale Project Sea Dragon, a vertically integrated land-based prawn aquaculture initiative spanning approximately 10,000 hectares at Legune Station in northern Australia aimed at producing over 100,000 tonnes annually. Seafarms conducts operations primarily in Australia with exports to markets including New Zealand and the Netherlands; founded in 1988 and headquartered in Spring Hill, Queensland, the company traces its aquaculture heritage to over 30 years through predecessor entities like Seafarm. Recent developments include the April 2025 completion of the sale and leaseback of Farms 1 and 2 at Cardwell to Mainstream Aquaculture Property for AUD 6.8 million, with lease extensions to January 2026 and further to March 2026, enabling continued operations and operational enhancements; in November 2025, Seafarms agreed to acquire key Project Sea Dragon assets from a liquidator for AUD 750,000 and plans the transfer of PSD licences to a new wholly-owned subsidiary, Sea Dragon Shrimp, alongside confirmed additional financial support from Avatar Industries and renewed engagement with international funding groups.
