Sangoma Technologies serves distributors, resellers, original equipment manufacturers, service providers and end-users, including small, mid-sized and large businesses in sectors such as healthcare, education and distributed enterprise; it targets markets across more than 150 countries with over 2.7 million unified communications seats for over 100,000 customers. Founded in 1984 and headquartered in Markham, Ontario, Canada, the company maintains additional offices in the United States, including Huntsville, Alabama. In recent years, Sangoma Technologies has pursued a growth strategy through strategic acquisitions, including Star2Star Communications in 2021 for approximately US$437 million to boost UCaaS recurring revenue and scale, NetFortris in 2022 to expand cloud communications, and others such as Schmooze Com in 2010, Digium's Asterisk business in 2013, Weblegends in 2017 and VoIP Supply in 2018; it completed the sale of VoIP Supply LLC in 2025 to exit low-margin hardware distribution and focus on high-margin software-led recurring services.
