Business
Syrah Resources Limited (ASX:SYR) is an Australia-based industrial minerals company focused on natural graphite production and active anode materials for the lithium-ion battery supply chain. Incorporated in 2007 and headquartered in Melbourne, the company operates its flagship Balama Graphite Operation in Mozambique, which produces and sells natural flake graphite to global customers in Europe, China, India, the Americas, and other regions; and its Vidalia Active Anode Material facility in Louisiana, United States, which manufactures active anode material products as a drop-in substitute for battery manufacturers and auto OEMs. It maintains a fully integrated supply chain from mining to downstream processing, emphasizing consistent product quality, low-cost production, and ESG-compliant operations with a single chain of custody for auditability. The company's core offerings include large-scale, high-volume natural graphite from Balama with optimal particle size distribution for anode material yield and graphitic carbon content; and standard natural graphite active anode material from Vidalia with high performance parameters, leveraging vertical integration with Balama for supply security. In November 2024, Syrah secured a loan from the United States International Development Finance Corporation to fund capital requirements at the Balama operation, supporting expanded sales to ex-China anode customers; the company is also reviewing strategic partnering options with Macquarie Capital's assistance amid rising interest in graphite supply chain transactions and policy developments.
